Japanese imports · Super Famicom & Famicom

Sell your Super Famicom and Famicom games.

Japanese cartridges and complete-in-box copies are a specialty, especially role-playing games. Sell locally in Phoenix or by mail from anywhere in the US with a prepaid label.

What we look for

RPGs above all. Dragon Quest, Final Fantasy, Romancing SaGa, Seiken Densetsu, Tales of Phantasia, Star Ocean, and Japan-only role-playing games are always welcome, loose or complete.

Complete copies. Boxed Super Famicom and Famicom games with their manuals and inserts are especially interesting, even when the boxes show wear.

Collections of any size. A stack of loose Famicom carts from a trip to Japan, or a shelf of boxed Super Famicom games, both work. Send what you have.

What affects the value of Japanese games

Completeness

Japanese releases often came with paper extras. A complete copy usually means the box, manual, and cartridge, and for many games also a spine card, registration card, or other inserts. The more of the original contents survive, the better.

Box condition

Super Famicom and Famicom boxes are thin cardboard and crush easily. Crisp corners and intact flaps make a real difference for complete copies.

Label condition

Cartridge labels with tears, stickers, writing, or sun fading are worth less than clean ones. Shell yellowing on Super Famicom carts is common and matters less than label damage.

The title itself

Demand follows popularity. Well-known RPGs and Japan-only releases with an English fan following tend to hold value better than common sports or licensed games.

How to identify your games

If you can’t read the Japanese title, that’s fine. Clear photos of the front label and the back of the cartridge are usually enough for us to identify it.

Super Famicom cartridges are marked with a product code beginning with SHVC. Famicom cartridges typically use codes beginning with HVC. If you see those codes, include them in your list.

Common questions

Do you buy Japanese games by mail?
Yes. We buy Super Famicom and Famicom games from sellers anywhere in the US and send a prepaid shipping label.
Are Japanese games worth less than US releases?
Often, but not always. Many Super Famicom games sell for less than their US counterparts, while some Japan-only releases and complete copies of popular RPGs are in steady demand.
Do spine cards and registration cards matter?
Yes. For complete Japanese copies, original paper inserts like spine cards and registration cards can add noticeably to value. Include them in your photos.
Can you tell if a Japanese cartridge is a reproduction?
We check every game in hand. Reproduction cartridges are common for popular titles, and we’ll tell you if we find one.
